The University of North Carolina is an institution committed to innovation and entrepreneurship. 1789 powered by Innovate Carolina, is the University's central hub where entrepreneurship happens for all UNC students and grads with an idea for a for-profit, non-profit or social entrepreneurial venture.  1789 is a co-working space designed for all students to explore innovation and entrepreneurship, have an opportunity to meet other student entrepreneurs and start to grow their venture.  With an open, flexible workspace conveniently located at 173 E. Franklin Street in the heart of downtown Chapel Hill, we are the bridge between entrepreneurial activity on campus and the larger world.   1789 provides special support for students starting their own ventures by hosting workshops, classes, office hours, and events in partnership with groups like Launch Chapel Hill, the Campus Y, the UNC Minor in Entrepreneurship, as well as the Carolina Challenge.   Start at 1789, grow your venture and graduate to Launch on Rosemary Street, Chapel Hill's business accelerator.
